Lucia on the Gophers future schedules

There has been a lot of discussion on the Gophers future hockey schedules with their move to the Big Ten and why they're not playing one team and then playing maybe another team. Here is a quote from Michael Russo's blog today.
Some Don Lucia quotes:

On future schedule? “We have a four-year deal with Northeastern and Boston College [starting next year], so it’s something I want to continue to do – at least every year get out to the east coast. Right now, we’ll have our 20 Big Ten ames, our eight in-state games – that’s 28, we’ll have our tournament, that’s 30, so that’ll leave us four games a year. Right now we’re locked in with Notre Dame, B.C. and Northeastern, and when that drops off, we’ll get North Dakota back on when Notre Dame drops off. When B.C. drops off, that’ll free up another opportunity to go at East to play somebody every other year back and forth. The plan is to try to get out to the east coast every other year.”
Thoughts? Comments? It will be nice to see the rivalry return in four years hopefully.

GWG by Mark MacMilian

Danny Kristo described what he saw on the game winning goal.

“Just a chip in,” Kristo said. “Just kind of read the play to the Duluth “D” – rimmed it – beat the guy to the puck and luckily beat the guy off of the wall. Originally, looked shot then I saw Mark [MacMilan] out of the corner of my eye and he was opened up for a one-timer so just tried to make a good pass and it went through and he buried it.

From the new INCH blog, Gladdy says...
• Of course, one of the games we dialed up was the Friday night contest between North Dakota and Minnesota Duluth. I encourage the readers to take advantage of your opportunities to watch Danny Kristo play hockey. He’s one of the best offensive talents I’ve seen in my years of closely following college hockey. I consider some of Kristo’s attributes as a combination of the players involved in the great Hobey debate of 2008. His anticipation to make plays and to be in the right places on the ice matches Michigan’s Kevin Porter. Kristo’s skill, excitement, and big-game contributions compare favorably to Boston College’s Nathan Gerbe. Even Jess Myers would buy a ticket to watch Kristo play.

Revised and Updated College Hockey Television Schedule

English: National Collegiate Athletic Associat...
Originally posted at the Hockey Writers - Combine

Previously, I posted a national television schedule for NCAA Division I college hockey.  As with most sports, television schedules are fluid and change a lot, so I added a few dates to the television schedule that I posted back in October.

According to recent information that was announced last weekend during the nonconference series between BU and UND; NESN out of Boston, Massachusetts is picking up game two  of the UND and SCSU series in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. That is good news for college hockey and NHL fans that are looking for something to fill the void left by the NHL Lockout.  Also, Boston College travels across town to play their heated rival the Boston University Terriers on Sunday November 11th, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. central on NESN.

If you have been scanning twitter and the various NHL webpages on the Internet you will realize that the NHL owners and NHL Players Association are still really no closer to signing a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Sure they’re going to meet tomorrow (6th of November, 2012) but will they actually get to work and try to save the 2012-13 season?

Fri. Nov. 9 Boston University at Merrimack FOX College 7:30 p.m. TBD
Sat. Nov. 10 North Dakota at Saint Cloud State NESN 7:00 p.m. 628/434
Sun Nov 11 Boston College at Boston University NESN 5:00 p.m. 628/434
Thu. Nov. 15 Notre Dame at Michigan CBS Sports Net. 7:30 p.m. 613 / 158 (C)
Fri. Nov. 15 UMD at UND FCS/Midco 7:37pm TBD
Fri Nov. 16 UMD at UND FCS/Midco 7:07pm TBD

Updated College Hockey Television Schedule

CBS Sports I.D. From 1990
CBS Sports I.D. From 1990 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Orginally posted at the Hockey Writers - Combine

One of the themes I have been hitting on this fall is – College Hockey can fill the void left by the NHL Lockout – there is a very good chance that there will not be any NHL Hockey this season.

From every thing that I have read - it doesn't appear that the two sides aren't very close to solving their differences nor do they seem to be in any hurry to settle the labor dispute.

Keep hope alive - the two sides are meeting but that's about it.

From the average fans perspective, it doesn't appear that the two sides are making very much progress.

According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, the NHL is close to announcing that they're going to cancel some regular season games on the schedule - that announcement could come in the very  near future.

I have posted television schedules for college hockey in couple of previous posts and today I got my hands on the updated national television college hockey schedule. If my math is correct, there are going to be over 125 college hockey games to choose from this season.

Starting this Saturday, you will be able to watch a Division I college hockey exhibition game between the University of North Dakota and University of Manitoba Bison on Fox College Sports.

You can check your local listing but FCS is on the following DirecTV channels 617, 623, 626. As of right now, Dish Network does not include Fox College Sports. Games with a (C) are also available in Canada.
