Did Austin Poganski Take a Dive?

When I saw this play for the first time, I thought holy cow, that looked funny. One might even suggest that Austin Poganski took a dive. Now, even though Poganski is from Minnesota, he isn't known for being a diver or a player that embellishes. So, did Poganski take a dive?

Dave Starman Breaks down Poganski's Penalty Shot

On Friday night, I was watching the Bulldogs and Huskies game on CBSSN and between periods hockey analyst Dave Starman broke down the Austin Poganski penalty shot. I don't think our friends from Minnesota-Duluth are going to be very happy with Starman's analysis.

Austin Poganski Added to the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp Roster

Good news for incoming UND forward Austin Poganski, as he was added to the USA Hockey World Junior evaluation camp roster. Fellow incoming UND freshman forward Nick Schmaltz is also on the roster for the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp, too.
Adam Kimelman, NHL.com -- Goaltender Evan Cowley and forwards Ryan Hitchcock and Austin Poganski have been added to the roster that will take part in the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp next week in Lake Placid, N.Y., USA Hockey announced Tuesday. They will replace goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic and forwards Adam Erne and Cole Cassels.

The camp will run Aug. 2-9, and serves as one of the first steps for the United States in building the team that will compete at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship in Toronto and Montreal. Rockford IceHogs assistant coach Mark Osiecki will coach the team.

Poganski, a 2014 fourth-round pick (No. 110) of the St. Louis Blues, had 19 goals and 31 points in 55 games with the Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League last season; he is committed to the University of North Dakota for the fall.

Christmas comes early for UND…

Christmas season is one of my favorite holidays of the year; it’s a great time to hang out with hockey before the second half of the season begins. It’s also gives a person time for some reflection on the past year.
This holiday season, the UND hockey team got two very nice additions to their future line ups.
Personally,  I don’t usually follow a player until they gets to UND – this is based on some of the recent string of decommits that UND suffered from pretty high end recruits, the past two seasons – this week’s commitments are rather large gets for UND and I don’t think we will have to worry “too much” about them bolting to the CHL either.
I would also say that the commitments of St. Cloud Cathedral Junior Austin Poganski and Holy Family Catholic Sophomore Shane Gersich have UND fans pretty euphoric.
Here are some of the recent Minnesota High School Division I recruits.
