Shelby Amsley-Benzie with the Shutout

Coming into the weekend’s WCHA series between UND and the BSU Beavers, both teams knew that goals were going to be at a premium. Today was no different.

The game reminded me of a playoff game. There was little room to roam on the ice and the game was a tight-checking defensive battle. After the game, there were a few players wearing ice bags.

When it was all said and done, two goaltenders had shutouts and the only goal of the game came on a shootout. UND senior forward Becca Kohler scored the shootout winning goal giving UND a 1-0 win. The game will officially go down as a tie in the Pairwise Rankings, and UND will get the extra points.
