Ten reasons why hockey is better than football

The first reason that I believe that Hockey is better sport than football is that hockey basically is non-stop action… There are a lot of starts and stops in football, you can bet on that at sportsbetting.ag

If you watch football and hockey on regular basis you will see that there is little time between face-offs and in football the game is more deliberate unless there is a few minutes left on the clock and one of the teams is behind and is playing the hurry up offense... In football you have a bunch of starts and stops and the plays are short usually two to 10 second long.  Many times in football after a play there is a penalty after that slows the game down even more. Hockey can go continuously – I have seen many hockey games where it’s gone two – five minutes without a stoppage in play.

The Second reason that I like hockey more than football is from working in the press box as a hockey blogger/ writer. I do believe that hockey is harder sport to cover hockey because you can’t take your eye off of the game for a second. Again, in football there are more stoppages and you can tweet and do other things between plays that you couldn’t if you were watching hockey. I think in football that there is more plays where nothing happens as well.

Think about it this way, how many times in hockey have you see the dive option that goes nowhere followed by a whistle and a change of personnel. The answer is never. In hockey you also don’t have three plays and out.

Third reason that I think that hockey is more interesting that football, is skating. Having played both sports, it’s much more difficult to skate than it is to run. Think about it this way, most people can run but how many of them can skate and skate well? It’s much more difficult to skate both forward and backwards than it is to run either direction.

Keeping on the subject of footwear, I think that skates are much more interesting that cleats as well.
Fourth, I believe the players in the NHL are much more interesting – how many NFL football players are in there from Sweden, Russian or even Canada for that matter in the NFL? I also think that the players in the NHL are more approachable and more grounded and less self-absorbed.

Who in the NFL would be Scott Harnell’s, Milan Lucic’s or Alex Ovechkins’ equal?

The Sixth reason that I like the hockey over football – there are no field goal kickers in hockey… As a former football player – I used to despise the field goal kicker – more than anything else in football. How many football games have you seen that were decided by a little geeky guy that runs out at the end of the game and kicks a football through the uprights to win the game. This is the same guy that would never be playing football if it wasn’t for his ability to kick said football through the uprights. You don’t have that variable in hockey.

The Seventh reason why I like hockey more than football is the trophies. I find the NHL’s Lord Stanley’s Cup to be way more exciting than the NFL’s Vince Lombardi Trophy. If you don’t believe me look at the two trophies, every season a new Vince Lombardi Trophy goes to the winners, the Stanley Cup is the same trophy and it travels around with the players from the winning team and they get to spend a day with the cup doing whatever they want to do for their day with the cup.

That’s not to say that I don’t like an occasional Super Bowl Bet, because I have been known to make a bet once in a while, I just happen to like the Stanley Cup playoffs better. Click to view odds.

The Eighth reason that I like hockey over football is the occasional fight. There is no fighting in the NFL, if to players get into a fight the two combatants are kicked out of the game.  In the NHL the players at times fight, the combatants are given five minute majors and they go to the penalty box to cool their heels. Fighting in hockey also keeps the players honest and helps policed the game, football the players have to rely on the referees.

The ninth reason that I like the hockey over football is the playoffs. In the Stanley Cup Playoffs a team has to win 16 games and win 4 seven game series to be the champion in football you only have to win four games if your team plays in the Wild Card game.

Finally, the tenth reason that I like hockey over football is the arena’s… While it might be cold outside as you travel to a hockey game, you don’t have to worry about the elements once you get inside the arena and watch a hockey game. I don’t know how many football games that I watched or played in where I was cold and wet and miserable.
